Turquoise (American; rare) – American turquoise, primarily from the Southwest, is considered the most valuable Turquoise variety globally and prized for its natural beauty, unique matrix patterns, and cultural significance in Native American jewelry. The earliest known turquoise was mined and used approximately 2,300 years ago by the Hohokam and Anasazi people in what is now the Cerrillos and Burro Mountains of New Mexico and Kingman and Morenci mines of Arizona.
