Ruby – Ruby is one of four stones considered precious gems and shares a mineral structure with Sapphire. Ruby red is the color of our most intense emotions, love and anger, passion and fury, which is why rubies symbolize vitality, heat, and passion and signify wealth and success. Dorothy’s magical slippers, now held in the Smithsonian and Academy of Motion Pictures Museums were changed from silver in the original Wizard of Oz book to ruby red to highlight cinematic color and sparkle. Today, Ruby is June’s birthstone and given as 15th and 40th anniversary gifts.
