Necklace Details
Moonstone – Moonstone has been prized around the world for more than 3,000 years. Moonstone has a blue-whitish opalescence that shimmers in and on the stone called Adularescence; this ethereal sheen is caused by light bouncing off Moonstone’s alternating mineral layers. As its name implies, Moonstone has long been linked to lunar mythology (in fact, Hindu mythology believes the stone is made of solidified moonbeams) and is still considered a stone that promotes good fortune, emotional healing, and protection and guidance for travelers, especially at night. Many believe that if you hold a Moonstone in your mouth during a full moon, you can see the
future. Today, Moonstone is one of June’s birthstones.
Ruby – Ruby is one of only four stones considered precious gems and shares a mineral structure with Sapphire. Ruby red is the color of our most intense emotions, love and anger, passion and fury, which is why rubies symbolize vitality, heat, and passion and signify wealth and success. Dorothy’s magical slippers, now held in the Smithsonian and Academy of Motion Pictures Museums were changed from silver in the original Wizard of Oz book to ruby red to highlight cinematic color and sparkle. Today, Ruby is June’s birthstone and given as 15th and 40th anniversary gifts.
Sapphire – Sapphire is one of only four stones considered precious gems and comes in all colors except red and black. Its name, which comes from Ancient Greek and means ‘dark blue stone’, infers that blue sapphire was the first color discovered. Sapphire is September’s birthstone and considered a stone of wisdom, wealth, and protection around the world.
Sterling Silver – Silver is considered a fine metal and, because of its durability, a tangible representation of lasting love and family bonds. It is also believed to strengthen emotional, mental, and physical well-being by promoting inner peace, alleviating stress and anxiety, and warding off negative energy. Wearing or carrying sterling silver serves as a personal talisman, enhancing one's inner strength and resilience. Silver is given as a 25th anniversary gift.
